The Athens Conservatoire is set to host a compelling photo exhibition entitled “Bearing Witness,” featuring the works of two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Muhammed Muhsein and Howard G. Buffet, photographer, farmer, conservationist and chairman of the Howard G. Buffet Foundation. The exhibition will run from Dec. 18 to Dec. 22.
Through a curated selection of images spanning decades and captured in more than 30 countries, these noted photojournalists aim to convey the powerful belief that “even in the midst of conflict, life never stops but persists. Life goes on.”
“Bearing Witness” is a visual odyssey that presents testimonials and stories of people’s resilience amid chaos and misery, according to its organizers.
Both photographers pay tribute to their friend and colleague Anja Niedringhaus, the veteran German photo-journalist shot dead in Afghanistan in April 2014 while covering the national elections there. Photographs by Niedringhaus are also on display.
The exhibition is hosted within the historic Athens Conservatoire (Odeio Athinon) Polychoros Ω2, Vassileos Georgiou B 17-19 Ave. Admission is free and the doors will be open to visitors from noon to 8 p.m. daily. The premiere is on Monday at 6 p.m.
