Athens and Santiago de Chile are the venues of a cinematographic project entitled “A Tale of Two Cities”, beginning on Wednesday (Jan. 24). Coordinated and organized by the KINO Athens Film Society and Santiago’s “Centro De Cine Y Creacion (CCC)” the collaborative project includes parallel screenings of Greek films in the Chilean capital and Chilean films in Athens.
Athenian cinephiles will have the opportunity to view Dominga Sotomayor’s “Thursday till Sunday” during the Wednesday premiere at the “Booze Cooperativa” (57, Kolokotroni St. in central Athens). The latter is a feature film produced in Chile and the Netherlands.
Similarly, in Santiago de Chile, Athena Tsangri’s “Attenberg,” starring Ariane Labed and Evangeli Randou, and with current “hot commodity” director Yorgos Lanthimos among the cast, will be screened.
The KINO Athens International Independent Film Festival (March 1-10) promotes independent film-making aimed at “societal change through conceptually provocative and unusual films.”
This year’s festival will be hosted at the Serafio City of Athens venue, the municipality of Athens’ Technopolis and at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation, with independent films from around the world to be screened, along with workshops, masterclasses and DJ sets. Additionally, KINO Junior, premiering this year during the festival, will screen films for school groups and families, along with a competition section for young artists.
