An atmospheric disturbance is set to bring rain and thunderstorms to both the western and eastern parts of the Greece on Thursday. Athens will also see rainfall from Thursday evening into the early hours of Friday, with temperatures in Attica ranging between 9°C and 16°C.
Thursday’s Forecast

From Thursday morning, unsettled weather will dominate, with rain and thunderstorms first hitting the western regions, particularly coastal areas. By mid-morning, the system will expand eastward, affecting the Aegean, western Crete, the Cyclades, the eastern Aegean islands, and eventually the Dodecanese.

Elsewhere, the northern and eastern mainland will experience dense cloud cover.

Temperatures will reach 13-14°C in the west and north, while eastern and southern mainland regions will see highs of 16-17°C. In the Aegean, temperatures will hover around 14-17°C, with Crete slightly warmer at 18°C. Thessaloniki will see overcast skies while temperatures will range from 8°C to 13°C.

Friday’s Outlook

The unsettled conditions will persist into Friday, particularly over northern Greece and the Aegean. Showers will be widespread, with scattered thunderstorms expected in the eastern Aegean islands, western and southern Crete, and the Dodecanese.

In the rest of the country, cloud cover will be intermittent, with local showers developing in the afternoon. Morning and evening hours may see reduced visibility in mainland areas.

Winds in the west will start off light and variable before shifting to northwesterly at 3-4 Beaufort in the Ionian Sea.

In the east, winds will initially blow from the south at 4-5 Beaufort, reaching 6 Beaufort locally, before gradually turning northerly at 3-4 Beaufort.

No significant temperature changes are expected, with highs reaching 15-17°C across most of Greece and up to 18°C in the southern mainland.
