The Greek Meteorological Service issued a severe weather bulletin on Monday, as the weather is forecast to take a sharp turn for the worst on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The main weather features will include a sharp drop in temperature, decreasing by 12 to 15 degrees Celsius, along with heavy showers, thunderstorms, and snowfall in mountainous and semi-mountainous areas. In some cases, snow may also fall in lower-altitude regions of the eastern mainland.
At the same time, gale-force north-northeasterly winds, reaching 8 and locally 9 on the Beaufort scale, are expected to sweep across the Aegean and the eastern mainland from Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday night.
The Service published an orange-category warning, urging citizens to prepare accordingly by taking safety measures and avoiding planned outdoor activities.
