Most parts of Greece are set to experience high temperatures starting on Friday with meteorologists forecasting a mini heat wave.

According to meteorologist Ioannis Kallianos, a warm front expected on Sunday is set to send temperatures over the season’s average.

The National Meteorological Service (EMY) is forecasting temperatures to range between 35 and 37 degrees Celsius (96.8 degrees  Fahrenheit) over the weekend with scattered rains.

High risk groups are advised to remain in doors and stay hydrated.

Kallianos is forecasting average temperatures to hover around 28 degrees Celsius on Friday, 30 to 31 degrees Celsius on Saturday, 33 to 34 degrees Celsius on Sunday and 35 to 36 degrees Celsius  on Monday.

“All of this will become clear as we get closer to the end of next week,” he said.

Meanwhile, 20 fire fighters and 10 fire trucks were battling to put out a blaze that broke out in Aliartos, Central Greece earlier on Tuesday.
