Greece posted the highest share of public electricity generation in 2023, according to an energy chart released by Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE.
The chart ranks 26 countries of Europe and reveals that Greece’s share was the highest at 22.6%, just above that of Luxembourg, which boasts 22.1%.
Spain, Estonia and Hungary were not too far behind at 16.5%, 15% and 14.2% respectively. Last place was a tie between Bosnia & Herzegovina and Moldova, coming in at just 0.1%
The chart only depicts the use of solar energy in the generation of public electricity.
Franhofer is based in Germany and says that it is the large solar research institution in Europe.
