The Greek meteorological services issued a severe weather warning, as the storm front Cassandra is set to arrive on Friday and continue through Saturday.
Heavy rain and storms are expected to mainly affect parts of western Greece on Friday, starting in areas in the north Ionian Sea, gradually moving to the region of Epirus, the rest of the Ionian islands, the western part of mainland Greece (Sterea Ellada), and northwestern parts of the Peloponnese.
More specifically, according to the weather bulletin, rain and thunderstorms are forecast on Friday afternoon in the northern Ionian Sea and gradually spread to Epirus, the rest of the Ionian islands, western Sterea, and northwestern Peloponnese. During the night, the western parts of Thessaly may also be briefly affected. The weather phenomena will weaken in the northwest overnight.
Starting on Saturday morning, rain and thunderstorms will gradually impact western Sterea and western Peloponnese, while from late morning until the evening, the weather phenomena will cover eastern Macedonia, Thrace, and the northeastern Aegean islands.
