Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, made an appearance in the royal family’s traditional Christmas Day walk to St. Mary Magdalene Church at Sandringham.
Accompanied by her husband, Prince William, and their children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—Kate joined other royals, including King Charles III and Queen Camilla, for the holiday service.
This year’s tradition marked a meaningful moment for Kate after a difficult year marked by her cancer diagnosis and subsequent chemotherapy treatment.
The Princess underwent planned surgery in January, later revealing a cancer diagnosis in March. During her treatment, Kate limited her public engagements, appearing only a few times, including at Trooping the Colour and Wimbledon. She completed chemotherapy in September and began gradually returning to royal duties, hosting a Christmas carol concert earlier this month.
Prince William has described 2024 as the hardest year of his life, citing the health struggles of both his wife and father, King Charles, who also battled cancer.
Kate was warmly received by well-wishers on Christmas morning, beaming in a green Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen coat, and embodying resilience as she resumed her royal responsibilities.
